I will give just about anything a try. I mostly enjoy mystery, suspense, and thillers. I also dabble in memoirs.

Beautiful Creatures

Beautiful Creatures - Margaret Stohl, Kami Garcia

I just finished Beautiful Creatures on a suggestion of a friend. Lately I really haven't be into YA fiction, but she insisted it was a great book. So I gave it a shot and I have glad I did!

What was it about this book? I really can't put my finger on one particular thing. I really love Lena. I don't know what it is about her, but I just fell in love with the character. The whole time I was reading, all I could think was "Please go light!"

In a fictional book about casters, spells, light, and dark, I really felt like this book was written to be totally believable, like these things could really happen.

Great book! Highly recommended for anyone that loves YA fiction!

On to my next read!

The Neighbors

The Neighbors - Ania Ahlborn

You know what you get a certain feeling when you read a book? Some books you feel dark and mysterious, while some have a cheery, bright tone. Well, with The Neighbors, I had the cheery, bright feeling the whole way through. For some reason, the whole book seemed very upbeat to me. I find this a bit odd, though, because this book was about murder. Strangely enough, it seemed to fit.

Drew moves in with a childhood friend that he had lost contact with. Upon moving in, he meets and becomes enamored with the neighbors. Then the plot thickens as secrets are revealed about these "perfect" neighbors.

I thought this was a pretty great book. It was a quick and easy read.

Here Goes...

Well... Here goes for my official first review on BookLikes! Bare with me, please!

I always love a good murder mystery which is why I picked up this book. The premise struck my fancy, I guess you could say. A serial killer seems to have come out of hiding after 20 years. Is it the "Snow White Killer" or a copycat? That is the question.

Normally this is one of my favorite type of books, but I just could not get into this one! It was really a slow read. I felt that details of the book that should have been exciting just weren't. They were more simple statements of fact than "OMG! You aren't going to believe what just happened!" So I slowly read through this book waiting for that moment that never happened. Then towards the last third or so of this book there were a bunch of new details thrown into the mystery that in my opinion just didn't jive. It was like a whole other crime spree made to fit in. But, for me, it fell short.

So overall, this was an ok read. Would I suggest it to someone else? Maybe, but probably not. Oh well, they can't all be winners.

There! My first review/blog post on here! Not too shabby!
